The military used tents from way back such as in the civil war, these camps were set up fast and were light in weight and they were fast in tear down to be reuses in a moment’s notice.

Tents are still a part of the military use. Today tents are used for camping, a cheaper way to camp, they are more mobile and they can be set up were no camper can go. They are perfect for hiking over night or long trips. They are light weight and can be set up all most anywhere.
They are a necessity for backcountry and wilderness that allow one to explore places other than a campground, but note: they are great for campgrounds too.

Tents are also used for emergency shelter as well, such as humanitarian aid in war time, earthquakes, fire and after major storms were people’s homes have been destroyed.

Some even set up tents on the beach to add some protection from the sun even blowing sand that provides shelter for eating and storing food.
Many use tents when they go for the weekend to mud Bogs, racing advents, fishing trips, even a family outing to the lake even at a cookout and the kids love to camp-out in the back yard. Nothing beats having a tent set up and sitting around a campfire on your favorite outdoor seating.
Don’t buy a cheap tent, it will not last and the last thing you want is to be miles away or at a family advent and your tent fails, that would ruin the trip!
